community logoAshok wholeheartedly agrees with Community Union that workers in betting Shops right across Middlesbrough South & East Cleveland deserve to go to work without fear of violence, intimidation and abuse. He would like to thank the union for bringing this matter to his attention and promises to help the campaign where he can.

Staff in Betting Shops are too often on the receiving end of intimidation both from customers and through a worryingly increasing amount of armed robberies. Staff are regularly left on their own in a shop with little ability to protect themselves. The response to these attacks is often that taking abuse from upset customers is part of their job.

This attitude has to change and if you would like to find out more about the campaign, you can do so by visiting http://www.bookiesrights.com or http://www.respectatladbrokes.com/. Community have also launched a DVD to highlight the issue which you can view at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwST95YFrK8
