Ashok Kumar joined the Minister for Veterans, Kevan Jones MP, in welcoming solo cyclist Peter Wilson to the Ministry of Defence following his 220 mile sponsored bike ride.

Peter took three days to days to complete the course in order to raise money for Help for Heroes.  To date he has raised over £2,800 and expects to hit the £3,000 mark.  Peter was joined by MP Ashok Kumar who supported Peter in his challenge and sponsored him.

Commenting on the ride Ashok said:

“Not only are we, as a country, lucky enough to have the best armed forces in the world, what we have seen here today is an example of how much our soldiers’ hard work and sacrifice is valued. I am delighted to welcome Peter at the finishing line in London and I wish him every success in his future fundraising challenges.”

Minister for Veterans Kevan Jones stated:

“I would like to pay tribute to Peter’s commitment and dedication in undertaking this challenge.  Help for Heroes is a marvellous charity and any money raised will be put to good use.

Peter added:

“I am delighted to have completed the ride and pleased that everything went according to plan.  The thought of riding to raise money for injured troops really kept me going throughout the three days on the road.  People have been extremely generous and I would like to thank Ashok for his support and for donating money to Help for Heroes.”
