Ashok visited Kingston Pharmacy in Skelton on Friday to discuss the additional roles that Pharmacists can play in the future of the NHS. After spending time looking around the impressive facility, he talked to Simon Savage, the Pharmacist about problems facing the profession at the moment.

Top of the bill was how Government can better utilise these skilled and willing professionals to better utilise their abilities for the benefit of local health users.

Ashok said "I was amazed at the work being done in this Pharmacy. Simon is providing services to my constituents off his own back that he isn't getting paid extra for. He has my entire support for helping people who would otherwise find it difficult to access healthcare."

"There are many procedures currently undertaken by doctors that could quite easily take place in Pharmacy's which are often easier for people to access and would free up GP's time to deal with other cases. This expansion of services is something that the Government supports and I will be doing everything I can to ensure that the work that people like Simon are doing is supported at every level."
